Direction of Use
The 8 steps of hand hygiene approach describes the key points at which healthcare workers should perform hand hygiene:
Step 1
Squirt/Pump-In
Apply a palmful of hand sanitizer in a cupped hand.
Step 2
Palm to Palm
Rub hands palm to palm.
Step 3
Dorsum Clean
Right palm over left dorsum with interlaced fingers & vice versa.
Step 4
Finger Interface
Palm to palm with fingers interlaced.
Step 5
Back of Fingers
Backs of fingers to opposing palms with fingers interlocked.
Step 6
Thumb Clean
Rotational rubbing of left thumb clasped in right palm & vice versa.
Step 7
Finger Tips
Rotational rubbing, backwards & forwards with clasped fingers of right hand.
Step 8
Safe hands
Once dry your hands are safe.
